ABOUT THE ARTIST

Matthew Frye is a California Painter, seeking inspiration from his love of God, agriculture, fishermen and the humor of life.

 

Matthew was born in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, an agricultural region of California often referred to as the breadbasket of the world. Matthew grew up surrounded by agricultural and ranches that produce crops such as Almonds, Artichokes, Dates, Figs, Olives, Persimmons, Pistachios, Pomegranates, Prunes, Raisins, and Walnuts.  

 

Matthew studied in Florence, London, San Francisco and Malibu.  He began painting seriously in college at Pepperdine University and continued his studies in drawing, painting, sculpture and blacksmithing at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.  Matthew’s artwork has been collected by patrons throughout the United States and has been displayed at art shows in and around San Diego and throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
